Imagine if we waited until everything was perfect so we can embark on that journey God has for us? That is usually my mindset, but by the grace of God it has been corrected. I am the kind of person that has her head in the clouds and plans ahead forgetting that life is very unpredictable. There is nothing wrong with my desires and dreams, especially if they line up with the word of God, but if I struggle a lot with “waiting for the perfect timing.” That worldly kind of thinking is a stark contrast to how God works. God works in Kairos ( the opportune moment), we work in Chronos, the here and now. With everyone’s personal information being posted on various social media accounts, it becomes so easy to ask God to do stuff in our timing. Thinking that we know when the time is right, or even taking matters into our own hands ( Do you remember Sarah, Abrahams wife)? But the beautiful thing is that when you serve a God who gives you what you need, and can do immeasurably more than you could ever ask for, his timing will always be better than ours.
When Moses was commissioned by God to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, he tried to find every excuse in the book to not go. He wasn’t an eloquent speaker, he didn’t think he was important..etc. But God’s plans and timing trump ours regardless of what we think or what external factors may seem too large. Serving a God who calms the storms and calms his child, gives me a sense of peace and trust.
